COUPLES therapy
FIGHTS WORTH HAVING
In couples therapy, we unpack the cycles keeping you stuck and each of your part in them. The goal is a relationships that can hold both closeness and independence, and still feel connected.
I often tell my couples that therapy is about learning how to fight. We don’t need to be afraid of disagreement—in fact, it’s a natural part of being in relationship. What’s important is our ability to communicate what we’re thinking, how we’re feeling, and our partner’s impact on our state. Often times, after couples therapy you even experience what was good in the relationship to be even better — more close, more intimate, more safe.
Communication is typically the single most persistent challenge in relationships. Most of us were never taught to do this well, and dedicated time to improve it can make a world of difference in your partnership.
As your couples therapist, I guide you to focus on identifying what you actually feel, then practice saying it in a way your partner can hear without triggering their defenses. From there, we build on listening, reflecting, and asking real questions.
It’s not always about agreeing, it’s about finally feeling seen.
